1855-O Liberty Seated 50c, MS-65 (PCGS/CAC)
With Arrows at Date, No Motto Reverse

$ 10,500

Repunched Date ~ Repunching visible on all four digits of the date, strongest on 55. Most of the stars repunched with double or triple outlines.

Lightly toned in a softly iridescent blend of violet, blue, amber and green. Shallow contact marks are visible under a 10x loupe, including a grouping in the left obverse field off of Liberty's elbow, and in the upper reverse field below STA. A thin struck through crosses the border of Liberty's drapery below her chin. The strike is generally strong, although stars 7 and 8 are weak at their centers.

PCGS reports 17 certified as MS65, four as MS66, with two MS67s vying for finest. However, this short lived two year type enjoys perennial demand from type collectors, with 1854-O and 1855-O the only two "Arrows at Date, No Motto Reverse" issues regularly available.
