1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar, Very Fine-25 (PCGS/CAC) Overton 131 - Star 1 pierces lowest curl, point of bust between inner points of star 15. Reverse with seven berries left, nine right. (Rarity 4). Reverse die cracks from the rim down to the right foot of the first A in AMERICA, and from the rim above C through the top of the last A in AMERICA, clockwise into the field below the ribbon. Pleasing light to medium gray in color. A very fine lower reverse scratch from the ribbon knot down to the rim below the left ribbon end is visible under a loupe, but has long been toned over, yet there are no other significant impairments from circulation. Liberty's hair and the eagle's wing feathers are well detailed for a PCGS VF25, and equal to what we used to expect from a "Very Fine" Flowing Hair Half Dollar when standards were a little tighter. This is an attractive coin for the grade, and a perfect example for a mid-grade type or date set. $ 4,750
