1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar, Very Fine-30 (PCGS/CAC)
Overton 111: 1795/1795 Recut Date, Three Leaves Reverse

Overton 111 - Recut date 1795/1795. Reverse with three leaves under each wing. (Rarity 3). A heavy reverse die break runs from the upper left rim, touching the first S in STATES, through the wreath and top third of the eagle's wing at left, and diagonally bisects the eagle's body, ending near the top of the eagle's tail feathers directly below the center dot. O.111 is a very popular variety as this is the only die pair to use the "Three Leaves" reverse.

Nearly perfect for the grade with natural light to medium gray color. Scattered fine circulation marks are visible under a loupe, none of which stand out, and well within tolerance for the grade. The upper third of the eagle's wing at left, the eagle's head and upper half of the eagle's body are weakly struck as a result of the extreme reverse die break.

PCGS reports 36 "Three Leaves" 1795 Half Dollars certified in total, most of which are in very low grades. This is the only PCGS VF30, with seven better topped by a single MS-61.
