1906-O Barber Quarter Dollar, Mint State-66+ (PCGS/SP)
Fully Struck, Naturally Toned Gem

If striking quality is your focus, this 1906-O Quarter will surely fit the bill. The strike is uncompromisingly complete, with all star radials sharp, and the often troublesome eagle's claw at right showing every fine detail. The luster is frosty and original, with a light overlay of blue, violet, amber, and olive toning. Some scattered, light, chattery contact marks are visible on the obverse, but are well overshadowed by the luster and color.

PCGS reports 20 coins graded MS-66 including this first 66+, with 5 MS-67s higher. Like bookends, the 1892 and 1916-D serve as the most available type coins of this design, with around 100 coins of each reported in MS-66 and higher by PCGS. In comparison, issues such as 1906-O,with one-quarter the number certified, are still good buys at relatively low premiums to type coin levels.
