1901-O Barber Quarter Dollar, Mint State-67 (PCGS/SP)
Superb Gem 67+, Finest Known, Ex Krueger-Duckor

This is widely acknowledged as the Finest Known 1901-O Barber Quarter. An unquestionably original Superb Gem, this is simply the perfect "look" for a silver type coin, let alone for a rare date such as this.

The toning is soft and natural, mostly light gold at the centers, the obverse deepening slightly to amber and blue near the rim. The reverse toning, just a little more vivid, exhibits bright shades of green and violet throughout the lettering. The luster is fully original and exhibits a slight satiny texture. The strike is full with all of the obverse stars sharp, except for the finest details of the eagle's claw at right, and the extreme ends of the arrow feathers. To an unaided eye the surfaces are literally perfect, as only some trivial, shallow contact marks on Liberty's neck become visible under a strong glass.

PCGS reports only one other 1901-O Quarter graded MS67, which is currently firmly held in a well known collection.
