1797 Draped Bust Half Dime, Small Eagle, Mint State-66 (PCGS)
Logan-McCloskey 3: 16 Stars Obverse, Lustrous & Boldly Struck

Logan-McCloskey 3, Valentine 3 - Sixteen stars obverse. Reverse with two outer and one inner berries. (Rarity 5). Prominent obverse die break from rim between stars 7 and 8. Obverse die heavily clashed from prior marraige with Reverse C (LM-2), then relapped, and clashed again with this reverse.

Exceptionally well struck for this type with nearly full hair detail, and most of the eagle's breast feathers outlined and with depth. Lustrous and softly toned, the obverse shows hints of faint gold about the rim, paired with reverse toning in more visible shades of amber and violet. There is a short, curved lint mark behind Liberty's mouth, a small flan streak at her neck, and some trivial contact marks that are visible under magnification yet unnoticeable to an unaided eye.

PCGS has certified two "16 Stars" 1797 Half Dimes as MS-66, none finer.
