1834 Capped Bust Half Dollar, Mint State-67 (PCGS)
Overton 109, Small Date & Small Letters, Ex Eliasberg

Overton 109 - Small date, stars 8-9-10 recut, sharply on star 10, and a few tiny dots are visible in the right obverse field just off of the lower ribbon end from rust pits in the obverse die. Small Letters reverse with strong, horizontal die scratches within the vertical shield stripes. (Rarity 1). Reverse die lightly clashed.

Beautiful and unquestionably original with full cartwheel luster. Wonderfully toned with light rose-gold centers deepening to amber, gold, blue and green about the rims, more vivid on the reverse. Under a loupe, some trivial contact marks can be seen on Liberty's cheek, yet are well overcompensated for by the strike, luster, color and unquestionably natural and original surfaces of this Superb Gem.

PCGS has certified only this 1834 "Small Date, Small Letters" Half as MS-67, none finer, and with a single MS-66 trailing. Additionally, one other 1834 Half Dollar has graded MS-67 by PCGS, from the "Large Date, Small Letters" group.
