1864 Liberty Seated Quarter Dollar, Mint State-68 (PCGS)
Finest PCGS Liberty Seated "No Motto" Quarter

Die chips on Liberty's right thigh. Fine die crack through star 8 to the top of the cap to the rim at right, another joining stars 9 - 10 - 11, and a third from the tip of Liberty's foot to the rim below star 13.

This Liberty Seated Quarter is instantly recognizable as an extraordinary coin. The strike is uncompromising, and the luster is satiny with clear cartwheels. A soft layer of toning is colored in faint yellow gold blending to deeper amber toward the rims. The surfaces are nearly perfect, with only a few trivial contact marks visible under a 10x loupe.

This is the Finest Known 1864 Liberty Seated Quarter, the only example certified MS-68 by PCGS with none finer. Additionally, this is very possibly the finest known example of the type as only one other Liberty Seated No Motto Quarter has been graded MS-68 by PCGS, a sole 1857, and none higher.
