1838 Liberty Seated Quarter Dollar, Mint State-66 (PCGS) The luster is frosted to satiny in texture, overlaid in pleasing light amber and violet toning which becomes more vivid about the periphery, with touches of blue about the rims. This coin appears to have been struck from dies that were not perfectly parallel, causing minor striking weakness on Liberty's foot, stars 9 through 13, and AMERICA on the reverse. Scattered contact marks help set the grade, the most notable of which are in the right obverse field. |
