1823/2 Capped Bust Quarter Dollar, Ex.Fine-45 (PCGS)
Browning 1, Significant American Rarity

Browning 1 - Clear overdate with 3 punched over a 2. This is the only known die marriage for the year. (Rarity 6).

This is a nearly perfect EF with honest high point wear and natural golden gray coloration that bursts into amber, violet and blue when turned into a light. The surfaces are semi-prooflike and show tiny circulation marks scattered throughout the fields, as we should expect from this grade. A patch of short scratches in the reverse field under the eagle's beak are the most notable abrasions.

PCGS reports a total of 17 1823/2 Quarters certified in all grades combines, topped by an AU-58, an AU-55, and two coins graded XF-45. Previously certified by NGC as AU-50.
