1803 Draped Bust Dollar, About Uncirculated-58 (PCGS) Bolender 6 - Large 3 in date, with the bottom of the 3 widely doubled. Reverse with die lines from left wing tip to denticles. (Rarity 2). Die break at rim merging two denticles and joining second highest wing feather at left. Heavy lump under E and strong die scratch right of D in UNITED. Most of the original luster is intact with only faint rubbing in the fields and highest points of the design. Soft gray and gold toning blends to slight blue and olive about the rims. There are some light contact marks from brief circulation, the most noticeable of which are a group of tiny marks behind Liberty's eye, and a vertical mark on her lower neck. Well struck overall, although with stars 1 through 5 weak at their centers, and the eagle's tail feathers are weak at their tips. PCGS has certified only two 1803 "Large 3" Dollars in AU58, with another six coins reported in Mint State. Provenance:
